1949年生。1979年京都大学工学博士。
研究テーマは「システムの数学的モデリングとコンピュータシミュレーション」であり、個々の事象と複合体のシステムモデル化を行う。複雑系のアプローチを用いた知識システム方法論の開発と環境問題への応用に取り組む。
